| Bio: | Bahktin said some things at length about the unfinalizability of persons, which to me echoes the notion that the soul is never complete, always in a state of change. So what I write here about myself in a full mode of intellectual pretension is like trying to capture a body of water by throwing down a cupful on the dry cement.
I am a guy, a writer, an intellectual type with a twist of irony. My ouevre includes novels, short stories, poetry, plays, essays. I have written a collection of short stories titled Destination: Short Stories, (Dec., 2000) and a personal essay/memoir, My Salvation: A Memoir in Fragments (2007). I have been published here and there in small press magazines, online, and in journals. It isn't how I pay the rent.
I am an Orthodox Christian, politically liberal, consistently pro-life, environmentally aware (matter has intrinsic value), a pacifist (not passive-ist), and other stuff.
I am interested in people, and genuinely like just about everyone I meet. I live alone and care for my two beautiful boys, meditate, write, and seek health spiritually, physically, emotionally and psychologically. I also like to joke around a lot.
I have two young children, which I just mentioned, whom I share with my ex-wife from whom I have been divorced for more than three years. They are the joy of my life, ages five and three. I love kids (especially my own).
In the past, I have described myself this way:
I am an intelligent spacy down-to-earth spiritual intellectual with a sense of humor. I am a disorganized organizer with a compulsive habit of procrastination.
I am a dysthymic hypervigilant peacenik who genuinely likes just about every person I meet, even the generally unlikeable. I am dead serious underneath a veneer of laughter. I care, and I see you even when I'm not looking at you. I'm the friend you never knew you wanted to have, but having, you never want to lose.
But after having that out there in the virtual ether for a while, I decided it was time to splash more water on the cement.
